I have arrived...

I have arrived! Finally, my first cyber stalkers! Based on the comments on a recent Journal Times blog , it has come to the public’s attention that I:

1. Am a bad mother.
2. Suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
3. Have a cut and paste website (???)
4. Must be a fired RUSD teacher.
5. Bitter.
6. Full of hate.

Since this has all been uncovered, I feel I must admit there is more. I also:

1. Torture small animals.
2. Hate America.
3. Listen to Yanni.
4. Steal candy from babies.

Whew, I feel better now… Confession really is good for the soul.

I'll bet you neglect your household duties and your husband too.

The worst of your list: The confession that you listen to Yanni.

How dare you!!!!

Torturing small animals is one thing, but Yanni!?!??

Although I often disagree withyou, I have absolutely no idea how any one can think that what these people have said (about you yesterday or Fred tonight) is anywhere close to an acceptable form of debate. When one skips past the B.S. one can get through the blogs in a fraction of the time.
Good luck, and I look forward to more debate with you in the future.

Hey, I like Yanni!

Brenda, although the commentary was hard hitting, as a friend who wishes to remain as such, there is some truth in spending way too much time with RUSD.

There may some truth to that, but much like blogging it is addictive.

I would like nothing more to give it up, but I cannot when I see so many different things wrong.

Ignoring it will not make it go away, although I am starting to question whether change is even possible.

Change is possible, if you take your kids out of the school. If you teach your own child you will have far more control over what your child does and does not learn. That will be one less child for RUSD to mess with, and you know at least your child can get a basic education (depending on how much you want to put into it).

Children are far smarter than we realize most of the time, sometimes they just don't let on.

Shana, taking my kids out of the system WOULD be the easiest thing to do. But that would still leave a broken system; it is not about my children, it is about what this school system is doing to my community.

My children ARE doing fine; there are many who are not. A failing school system is BAD for the entire community.

I apologize for not further explaining my point, sometimes I get distracted by the kids and forget to finish a thought :)

Part of my point of taking the kids out of the public schools, is that if more and more people are removing their children from a bad education system, hopefully (perhaps with some assistance), the district will realize that they are doing such a crappy job that they will start to realize that change needs to happen. Perhaps it will also leave a little more attention for the kids who really do need help that aren't getting it.

You bring up an interesting point, which I completely agree with (and have tried to explain to the powers that be).

Somehow I think if our school district knew how many people are so disenfranchised that they NEVER enrolled them in the first place, I think we would be not be having this discussion.

They honestly don't believe that there are MANY families living in Racine that have never gone to a Unified school. What a "revenue enhancement" that would be if those families returned to public schools.

They (RUSD) are not very forward thinking; or perhaps they are so busy trying to stay afloat they do not see the forest through the trees.

RUSD would probably be amazed at the actual number of homeschooling families in the area, and many of those families tend to be on the larger side. We have 5 kids alone, and I know a number of homeschooling families with at least as many, some with twice as many and more.

Whether RUSD will ever pay enough attention to figure out just how many kids are being homeschooled, who knows. They've already shown their inability to educate our children properly, or to allow taxpayers to make their own decisions, so it's probaly not likely.
