Tidbits from Monday's RUSD meeting - Part 1

Tidbits from Monday’s board meeting:

1. It has not been formally announced, but the district is moving to a cluster management style. The district will be divided into 3 (geographical?) clusters and there will be 3 area superintendents: Dr. Martinez, Dr. Laing and a yet to be announced 3rd superintendent. Hopefully this will be formally announced with all the supporting details soon.

2. Russ Carlsen and Randy Bangs just don’t play together well in the sandbox. We were subjected to yet another childish and boorish outburst from Dr. Carlsen simply because he did not like what Randy had to say….

3. We have a new administrator; Dr. Betty Webb. She comes to the district from the Panasonic Foundation. While normally I am suspect of hiring former consultants, I really have a good feeling about this one. She is on loan to the district for a few months, but if tonight was any indication of how effective she could be, I hope the administration does every thing in its collective power to hire her on permanently. She is passionate about education, very articulate and seems to have the know-how to actually get things done. The one fear I have is that the idea she implements will work, and Dr. Hicks will get all the credit.

Oh my dear It is not just Dr. Carlsen but also Mr. Bangs along with severval others. Together they make up a group of children almost impossible to watch.

I found the discussion about whether to allow further discussion to be among the most amusing/pathetic episodes that I have seen at a board meeting.Denis Navratil.

Of course, the problem does not completely lie with Dr. Carlsen but he is definitely the "leader" when it comes to inappropiate comments to other board members.

It is usually amusing to see them all in action. Actually, I had to turn my head away last night because I was so embarrassed by their collective bad behavior.

I think Randy Bangsneeds to give people more time to respond and/or get items on an agenda, just because he is up all night and emails people at 12:30am or later do not expect people to be up reading it right away people get up go to work (oh that's right Randy doesn't he lets his wife work) come home get supper together then afterwards look at emails. Most of Randy Bangs actions are uncalled for, but then again along with Russ their are a couple of others that need a talking to.
